Transgender Day of Remembrance
Our vigil is on this coming Thursday Nov 10.
We're meeting in front of the Library at 8pm and will continue to the Spirituality Room in Prentiss.
This event is taking place in lieu of our regular meeting time.
Luis will send out email reminders!
Language Panel
There will be a staff panel on Language in the Jewett Main Lounge directly preceding the vigil on Thursday at 7pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend!
World AIDS Day
This day is on December 1st (the Thursday after Thanksgiving).
Emma will be in contact with VOX about tabling/working together that day
(VOX is having their "Condom Carnival" that day)
Officers will make pins the Tuesday before this.
Diana "spearhead" finding STATISTICS to post around for World AIDS Day

Jewett Main Lounge has been reserved for Saturday Dec 2nd at 2pm
IC has offered to co-sponsor and will be producing posters for the event
Gabie will be in contact with IC to secure movie rental & advertising
Dragfest
Reid Ballroom has been reserved for the evening of February 4th.
Everyone should vote on their favorite theme in the email from Diana
(Magical, Project Runway, Colors of the Rainbow)
Tiny Fists Tour
This musical group who has reached out as interested in coming to campus has contacted CCC and various other groups on campus.
CCC would like to "spearhead" this event, and Coalition plans to support/co-sponsor as needed
We would have to consider timing of their tour/ how it would match up with everyoneisgay.com coming to campus.

Transgender Day of Remembrance
This will take place on November 10th at 8 PM in the Spirituality Room in Prentiss's basement.
We need to find out how many candles we will have.
We will be meeting in front of the library to light the candles and to begin the vigil then we will walk to Prentiss (probably not going directly there).
Eric is looking for short biographies of the people who have died because of their gender. Everyone else should also look one up in their spare time!
Advertising needs to happen for this!!!
World AIDS Day
This will take place on December 1st.
We will do tabling with red ribbons, info, and possibly condoms the week before (or earlier in the week). We discussed talking to VOX about cosponsoring or being involved in this.
We talked about having a discussion on how we see AIDS and the current AIDS crisis (in the US and elsewhere). We could possibly get a speaker from Cascade AIDS to talk about current policies (we would need to be working with VOX for this to happen).
We also discussed posting facts and statistics about AIDS in the US vs the world and advertising resources such as the health center.
Everyone should bring 1-2 facts or statistics about AIDS to the next meeting!
Queer Prom Alternatives
We discussed the "Orchids" showing. It will probably take place in the Jewett main lounge at 2 PM on December 3rd, probably with a discussion afterward.
We talked about possibly cosponsoring with the Intercultural Center.
everyoneisgay.com
Brainstorming for cosponsors: VOX, WEB, Intercultural Center, GLBTQ, FACE?
Currently the Gender Studies department would like to cosponsor.
Dragfest
Taking place on February 4th (Reid Ballroom is reserved!). Mehara is filling out paperwork.
There will be a drag competition and a dance.
Brainstorming for themes: Musicals, Magical, Harry Potter, Pop Icons.
We will be soliciting a student DJ.
October 20, 2011
WWU Guests
At the beginning of the meeting we were joined by 3 guests from Walla Walla U,
who wanted to check out our meeting and invited us to their newly established GSA meeting
Coming Out Day Debrief
We talked about the overall outcome of coming out day.
It was decided that the panel went well for the most part,
but we could have put a sign on the door to avoid interruptions,
and the students there for the Gender & Sexuality Workshop makeup probably needed some more prep because they seemed detatched and uninterested as audience members.
We also talked about encouraging less trivial "I'm Coming Out As" stickers (i.e. "a cat lover")
by having more positive examples (esp. ALLY)
Queer Prom Alternatives
Because the time and availability of space has passed,
we talked about some sort of social event in lieu of Queer Prom.
Discussed a movie, possibly Orchids, with food at the screening (open to all campus)
Transgender Day of Remembrance
This day is on Nov. 10th, we discussed the vigil that has taken place in the past (with candles)
Also discussed a discussion/panel afterwards
Posters & Advertising needs to happen SOON
everyoneisgay.com
Everyone should think of clubs that my co-sponsor the everyoneisgay.com ladies coming to campus!
We want this to happen Spring semester and we've been in contact
Safe Zone
Emma described the introduction of "trained" stickers
that would go in the center of the triangle on the "Safe Zone" Posters
This would be put on by Res Life and would help the posters go back to their original usage
(identifying trained community members)
Dragfest
Reid Ballroom has been reserved for Dragfest for February 4th!
Everyone should think of themes ASAP (ie. Disney, Decades, etc)
World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day is on December 1st,
We talked about directing Whitties to the in-town event that takes place,
but also tabling in Reid the week before with Red Ribbons,
and possible condoms with AIDS facts.
We discussed the possibility of pairing up with VOX and maybe having a panel/discussion
NEXT WEEKS MEETING (10/27) WILL BE IN JEWETT FOLLOWING THE "feMENism" PANEL!
All are encouraged to attend both!!

Coming Out Day

We also discussed ideas about the door for Coming Out Day (October 14th). Suggestions that were tossed around are PVC piping, using a soccer goal, or checking with the theater to see if they have any old prop doors we could use.
